Licensing as an Armed Security Guard in the “Grand Canyon State” Arizona is managed by the Arizona Department of Public Safety. In order to attain your armed Security Officer license you will have to complete state required Security Guard training. The armed Security Guard license must be renewed annually and must be valid throughout your period of employment.

If you’ve determined that you would like to get your Arizona armed security guard license here are the basic requirements to be met by the registrant:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Individual Security Guard license applicant must submit a completed application.
  • Must submit fingerprints.
  • Must submit 2 – passport style pictures.
  • Submit proof of identification, such as a photocopy of your driver’s license, passport, etc.
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony, any sexual offense or any crime that would tend to question the honesty and integrity of the person.
  • Must meet and maintain the qualifications set and approved by the Department.
  • Must also take and pass the required examination.

Some of the topics to be covered in the 16 hour Arizona armed Security Officer training course are:

  • Use of force laws of the State of Arizona.
  • Firearm marksmanship.
  • Legal issues and liability.
  • Other required armed Security Guard Training.

Registrants for the Arizona armed Security Guard license will need to complete and minimum 8 hour refresher training course to include the following subjects:

  • Must also take and pass the required qualification.
  • Other Required armed Security Guard Training
