Licensing as a Armed Security Guard in the “Yellowhammer State” Alabama is managed by the Alabama Security Regulatory Board. In order to attain your armed Security Officer license you will have to complete state required Security Guard training. The armed Security Guard license must be renewed annually and must be valid throughout your period of employment.

If you’ve determined that you would like to get your Alabama armed security guard license here are the basic requirements to be met by the registrant:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Individual Security Guard license applicant must submit a completed application.
  • Must submit fingerprints.
  • Must submit 2 – passport style pictures.
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony, any sexual offense or any crime that would tend to question the honesty and integrity of the person.
  • Must meet and maintain the qualifications set and approved by the Board.
  • Must submit documentation showing two years of experience.
  • Must also take and pass the required examination.

  • Must have a pistol permit issued by the sheriff of the county of residence.

Some of the topics to be covered in the 4 hour Alabama armed Security Officer training course are:

  • Use of force laws of the State of Alabama

Registrants for the Alabama armed Security Guard license will need to complete and minimum 2 hour refresher training course to include the following subjects:
